St. Catherine’s College celebrated its annual culmination of Nutrition Month last July 29, 2016. The theme was “1000 Days ni Baby Pahalagahan para sa Malusog na Kinabukasan” and the venue took place at the Function Hall where many people gathered to celebrate this year’s culmination event.
Its mission is to ensure that public awareness of healthy foods should be made important for all people. This was shown through jingles and infomercials as a contest. By realizing these to the school’s pupils, they learned the positive and negative effects of their eating habits while also preparing for a healthy life.
The infomercial was done by students who were actors themselves. Each part reflects the importance of being healthy and the props usually represented both sides that people are likely to experience when eating.
Bulletin boards supported the posters made by showing contrasting pictures of healthy and unhealthy foods along with their “personalities”.
Lastly, the jingles provided excitement to the audience with their dance moves accompanied by melodic verses. General reaction was positive and many people saw this as a way of getting healthy. It also gave them sufficient knowledge of topics related to nutrition.
