The 8th of August marked the feast of the St. Catherine’s College’s patron saint, St. Dominic de Guzman and the 800th year commemoration of the founding of the Order of Preachers. Bearing the theme: “Renewing the Dominican Spirituality in this Year of Mercy”, the festivity commenced with a Eucharistic celebration in honour of St Dominic de Guzman. The holy mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Albert Dano, OFM, who emphasized the significance of “a forgiving heart” in an impassive world.
Subsequently, every community equipped their long tables for the much–anticipated “boodle fight”. While the school was revelling in gaiety, a few of the Veritas Club members gave out bundles of joy for the candle vendors and “trisikad” drivers. The program officially opened with the dramatization of the life of St. Dominic incorporated with the performances done by selected students of grade 10 and 11, respectively. Student’s marvelled on their community saints who partook on the presentation and procession.
